LIFE BETWEEN BOOKS
At least I hope I am between books. I have a manuscript out there. And it may, or may not, find a publisher. But why wait at home worrying, when you can do something completely crazy.
Jeju Island is known as Korea’s Hawaii. And compared to the -14 degrees in Seoul, I guess the weather is balmy.

Black Pork Street, Jeju City
I wasn’t entirely sure what I was queuing for… I still don’t know.
Another reason to love Jeju is that it is a partial matriachy. These women freedivers are their family’s main breadwinners. They’re aged between 60 and 85 years old.

I also recommend
(1) A Korean 9 step scalp treatment.
(2) Wandering through impossibly chic (and very expensive) boutiques
(3) Checking out the vintage stores
(4) An all female Korean bathhouse experience
This vintage Snoopy T-shirt was priced at $1450. Remember I said check out… not write a cheque.
I wanted this SO bad - but threadbare and $245 - I don’t think so.
I travelled solo most of the way. Strangely, my family has quite a different idea of what constitutes a good holiday. I don’t get it. What’s not to love about hiking in a snow storm?
I reckon travel is about getting out of your comfort zone- geographically, emotionally and mentally.
And that’s best done the Eva Reddy way. Solo. Clueless. Curious.
WELCOME TO SOUTH KOREA IN WINTER
But let’s not dwell on the sub-zero temperatures. Because the food is next level amazing.
Only the best dim sum ever.
And the best satay ever.
But it was delicious.
When in Seoul…
Ignore the guide books… although the DMZ is pretty cool.
This designer boutique doubles as an art installation.
I ended up buying some overpriced room freshener. Unfortunately, my husband appears to be allergic to it.
Underwhelming- but you’ve got to do it.
